Samajwadi Party founder-patron Mulayam Singh Yadav’s daughter-in-law Aparna Yadav joined the BJP on Wednesday. This move is being seen as tit-for-tat after many defectors from Bharatiya Janata Party joined hands with Akhilesh Yadav.
Aparna Yadav is from Thakur-Bisht background, just like UP Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath. She married Mulayam and Sadhna Gupta’s son Prateek. She is the daughter of former journalist Arvind Singh Bisht, who later become the information commissioner. Aparna pursued a master’s degree in International Relations and Politics from Manchester University, UK.
In the 2017 assembly elections, Aparna Yadav contested on SP party ticket and lost to Rita Bahuguna Joshi from Lucknow Cantt.
Aparna Yadav runs an organization maned ‘bAware’, works for women’s issues, and also a cows’ shelter in Lucknow. She donated an amount of 11 lakh rupees for the Ram Mandir construction in Ayodhya.
Earlier, Akhilesh Yadav dismissed this news and had termed it an internal issue. He was also reassured that all was good in the family.
UP elections are going to be held in seven phases between 10th February and 7th March, results will be declared on 10th March.
