Former Assam Congress president Ripun Bora, who has joined TMC (Trinamool Congress), has said that the Congress has been witnessing infighting and only the TMC party can fight the BJP.
Bora told ANI, “I was associated with the Congress party for 40 years. I have no grievance against the Congress and its leaders. I resigned on some policy and ideological matters”.
He also said, “the way the BJP has grown has threatened the social fabric of the country. Congress being the grand old party should have fought the BJP but there was a lot of infighting in the party and I am convinced only TMC can fight BJP”.
Ripun Bora, who had resigned from Congress on Sunday and joined the TMC had lost in the concluded Rajya Sabha elections in Assam.
In his resignation letter also, Ripun Bora had pointed out the infighting in the party claiming that has demoralized Congress workers and paved the way for BJP to grow.
He alleged that the Party’s interest and ideology are being compromised in favor of the BJP for some vested interests of a few leaders.
Ripun Bora is the second senior leader from Congress in Assam to join the TMC in the past eight months. Former Mahila Congress chief Sushmita Dev joined the Congress in August 2021. Congress party has also witnessed resignations of senior leaders in other states too.
