The Congress is searching for candidates to field in the next elections in constituencies where it doesn’t have strong leadership, particularly the erstwhile Adilabad district.
According to the party sources, they are focusing on senior TRS leaders and elected representatives from Boath and Asifabad constituencies, where there is an internal cold war in the TRS party over ticket allotment.
Party sources said that they are looking to field an Adivasi candidate in Khanapur. TRS leaders and elected representatives are also fighting for a ticket in Jhanapur, which is a reserved ST seat.
The development happened after the joining of the TRS MLA Nallala Odelu and his wife, Bhagyalakhsmi, a Zilla Parishad chairman into Congress.
Congress sources also said that they are focusing on Sirpur (T), where the party lacks a strong presence and garnered some registrations during the digital drive.
The Congress party is also facing the same defection problem.
Atram Sakku of Asifabad, who won the elections on a Congress ticket in the 2018 polls, later joined the TRS (Telangana Rashtra Samiti). Another leader Palvai Harish Babu, who came second in the Sirpur (T) poll, defected to the BJP.
