Bommai meets Nadda, discusses Karnataka political developments

Amid speculation about the state cabinet expansion/reshuffle, Karnataka CM Basavaraj Bommai met BJP (Bharatiya Janata Party) president JP Nadda at his residence and is believed to have discussed the political developments in the state.

Sources said that it was not known if Bommai discussed in detail the impending rejig in his cabinet as the meeting between Bommai and Nadda was very brief.

Earlier, Bommai had a brief one-on-one interaction with Nadda on the sidelines of the 42nd Foundation Day of the party event.

Pressure has been mounting on the CM to expand or rejig his cabinet soon, after the recently held assembly elections in five states.

There are currently 30 ministers in the Karanataka State Cabinet, including the cM, against the sanctioned strength of 34.

Senior BJP leader and Union Minister Amit Shah, who recently visited the state, had given a target to the state BJP leaders to ensure the victory for the party in 150 seats out of the 224 seats in the upcoming assembly elections in 2023.

On the second day of the Delhi visit, Bommai met several Union ministers, including Rajnath Singh, and Nirmala Sitharaman, and discussed several issues of his state.
